Limits of the models

  • Monte Carlo returns are drawn from a normal distribution. Real markets have fat tails, skew, autocorrelation, and regime changes that this model does not capture.
  • Tax modeling is intentionally simplified. We do not run full federal and state tax simulations, bracket transitions, or account-type sequencing.
  • Social Security, pensions, annuities, rental income, and one-off windfalls are not modeled.
  • Cost-of-living indices are averages. Your real housing, healthcare, and transportation costs depend on neighborhood, lifestyle, and personal circumstances.
  • Sequence-of-returns profiles are illustrative annual return sequences, not exact replays of any specific crisis.

Privacy

  • All calculators run entirely in your browser.
  • We do not collect, store, or transmit the financial inputs you enter.
  • We do not require, request, or accept brokerage or bank account credentials. Ever.
  • Standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics may record anonymous request data.
